Luxury vinyl flooring patterns: following all the trends

By now, you probably already know that luxury vinyl offers nature-inspired, true-to-life images of wood, stone, and tile. It follows all the trends, so when we're asked what the most popular patterns are, we always answer with "whatever is trending in each industry!" We'll break it down for you in this guide.

About wood looks

One of the most significant design innovations is that this vinyl can be cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood planks, called luxury vinyl plank or LVP. In addition, the floorboards come in all sizes, so they can be mixed and matched to create various patterns and layouts; right now, wood patterns such as herringbone, chevron, and eye-popping abstract designs and patterns are all the rage.

Luxury vinyl tile for stone and tile looks

Also referred to as LVT, cut into square, tile-sized pieces that can be used with or without grout. Stone is always a classic, especially marble, but two are standing out this year: slate and travertine. Slate has a cool, contemporary look and, while it often comes in dark gray, it is available in many other colors if you so desire.

Travertine, often used in ancient architecture, is a classic with a neutral palette with unique veining. Other stones include quartz, limestone, terrazzo–and, of course, marble!
Trending ceramic tile patterns include oversized, bold geometrics, hexagons, circles, and anything that reminds us of nature, such as fauna and flora.

As a note, by no means are you limited as to how you choose to use either plank or tile. Some prefer plank for stone mimics, while others prefer tile for wood because they want a wood look tile appearance. Your imagination only limits you.
